It's been a busy summer of classes and summer camps and I have not been able to post anything lately!  Yesterday we made wood paintings. The students had fun creating them!

Glitter Slime

Here is a great fun thing to do with the kiddos this summer, it is super fun and easy and doesn't make a big mess. It also can provide hours of entertainment! Glitter Slime!!

1 Elmer’s Glitter Glue 6 oz
1 Cup Water
1 tsp. Borax
1 Tb Water

Mix 1 tsp. Borax and 1 Cup water together.
You can find the Borax at your local stores in the Laundry section.

empty the Glitter Glue into a bowl.
Add 1 TB. Water to the glue and mix it together.
This will help the glue to become a little more flexible.

Then pour the Borax mixture inside of the bowl.
combine the glue and the mixture together with your hands

Right away you will see how the Glitter Slime will start to form.

TIP: Don’t throw the extra Borax mixture yet.If the slime gets too slimy you can put it back inside and it will harden some more. The longer you leave the slime in the borax mixture the firmer it gets.

Store in an airtight jar.

Stamping

We made stamps from recycled styrofoam containers. They turned out really well!

A Fun paper project

This was a fun project, the students colored diagonal lines then cut them out and glued them in to a fan going in two different directions. It looks like the paper has movement.

Burlap painting

One of my favorite lessons to teach is mixed media. Here is a painting done with pastels and burlap. There is a lot of texture and color in the painting.

Fluid Art

Fluid art is an abstract painting style that is done with very "fluid" paints. It can create many different shapes, forms and blends of paint. This will be one of the lesson plans for this week.

Chihuly Bowls

Artist Dale Chihuly is a famous glass artist. His pieces are stunning. This week we are going to make reproductions of his work in plastic instead of glass.  The plastic sheets are cut then gently melted to make interesting shapes, the shapes are then painted with glass paint. The finished product looks like painted glass similar to Chihuly's work.
