It's been busy

I have been so busy with lots and lots of classes, I haven't had to time to post anything! Here are a couple of projects we did in class.

The top is textured drawings, the middle is marble paintings and the bottom is tape paintings. The students really enjoyed these projects.

Adult painting parties

I am now doing Adult painting and craft parties on Friday and Saturday nights. I teach how to do a painting or do a craft and you bring wine and snacks. I supply the art supplies, you bring some friends and have a great time painting and doing crafts while you nibble and sip.

The cost is $25.00 per person for a 2 hour class.
Email me if you are interested cupertinosoap@sbcglobal.net.
It will be fun, I hope you will join me.

On July 16, the United States Senate passed its bipartisan Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) reauthorization proposal, the Every Child Achieves Act (S. 1177), by a count of 81 to 17, according to a press release distributed by NAfME
This is a huge step for the students currently attending schools. This act allows any student from any school in the nation to learn the magic of Arts Education. Also with this step, the Senate has acknowledged that with the No Child Left Behind Act, the current school curriculum is narrowing its field and is actually dismissing Arts Education as a whole.
Chris Woodside, executive producer of NAfME is quoted in a press release saying, "More than 14,000 letters have been sent to Capitol Hill on behalf of music teachers and students."
This act was headed by the National Association for Music Education. NAfME advocates through all outlets for Arts Education. This association also provides resources for teachers and students wanting to major in Arts Education. With over 60,000 members to date, you can guarantee that they're the national voice for Arts Education today.

Since it is the beginning of spring, we did a pastel of tree blossoms. Pastels are wonderful to work with.

Play with your food

Sometimes playing with your food can be a good thing. Art can be anywhere and it can be any thing. Food can be a great medium to work with, then you get to eat your project!

Mixed Media Art

Mixed media art is a favorite in my class. The students get free reign on how they want to do their project. Anna did a great job on her's.

Pastels are a wonderful medium, they can be blended into beautiful hues and shades. Pastels are fun to work with. In my class your child will learn how to work with pastels to create beautiful works of art.
